Councillors’ Casebook: Keeping Carshalton Smart and Tidy

Local Lib Dem councillors Jill, Alan and Hamish have as usual reported a few matters in the past few days that need the council officers’ attention in recent weeks and these have included the following matters that might be of interest to residents in the Carshalton area:

Finger post sign, Festival Walk. We have asked that the elegant heritage style finger post signs are repainted, near the recently-revamped Honeywood Museum.  These are about 20 years old and looking rather in urgent need of some fresh paint.  We’ve asked if these could be painted in time for the Olympic Torch procession of Monday, 23rd July 2012!

Litter in the Pond…. We have also asked whether the litter in the west or Upper Pond near the junction of the A232 with North Street be cleared out. There has been a noticeable amount of flotsam and debris.

Brookside: We asked for cleaning on one side of the high-level “flag post” street name plate/sign in Brookside at the junction with Carshalton Place. One side we noticed the other day was clean, the other very filthy/mossy.  Since that report, the sign is now cleaned on both sides!

Park Avenue:  We recently asked the council if street trees could be installed in Park Avenue, on local residents’ behalf – a so-called “avenue” that currently has no street trees!  More in a future posting…
