Bring the whole family to the Easter Family Fun Day on Sutton High Street this Saturday 30 March, from 10am-4pm. You can pick up local treats at the local Produce and Craft market and join in the children’s Easter Egg Hunt.

With seeds…

This Easter, the EcoLocal’s Beanstalk Project is offering ‘Seeds Glorious Seeds’ family fun sessions. Have fun planting potatoes and seeds, learn about veggie families and take free onion sets home to plant. Thursday 4 April, 10.30am-12noon at Carshalton Community Allotment or Wednesday 10 April 10.30am-12noon at Circle Library. Cheam’s Rural Past Exhibition at Whitehall until 28 April Discover Cheam’s rural heritage through the borough’s art collection. Whitehall reveals what the village and its surrounding areas were like during bygone times.

Stories From The Past – Reading Group, at Whitehall on Tuesday 2 April 7pm. Enjoy a friendly look at fiction set in past times, with our historical fiction readers’ group. This month’s books are Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South and Lime Street at Two by Helen Forrester. Numbers are limited so please book a place by contacting Jane Allen on jane.allen@sutton.gov.uk. Admission is free (except refreshments)

Easter Holiday Activities linked to Onam Celebrations, at Honeywood. From Thursday 28 March – Sunday 14 April. There will be a programme of artist-led workshops and drop-in activities themed to the Onam Festival.

At a FREE Garden Wildlife Showcase…

Biodiversity Gardens would like to invite you to a FREE Garden Wildlife Showcase on Saturday 27 April, 1-4.30pm. The HLF project will be joined by experts from leading conservation organisations, such as the RPSB, wildlife trust’s and the Royal Horticultural Society, to help you discover wildlife gardening and species recording in your local green spaces. Free afternoon tea will be provided and each attendee will receive a goodie bag packed with information and advice. The showcase is completely free but you will need to book as there are limited spaces available. Download the event poster here.

Taking photos of wildlife…

To tie-in with the Showcase and the release of their Garden Wildlife Calendar later this year, Biodiversity Gardens have launched a free photography competition to source photos for said calendar. Prizes include bird and bat boxes, hedgehog homes, wildflower seeds and more! Winning photos will also be included in the calendar and displayed at the Showcase. Guidelines can be found here. Send your entries to biodiversity@sutton.gov.uk by Friday 12 April, 12pm for a chance to win.
