Carshalton’s Costa Coffee opens…

The new Costa Coffee is now open in Carshalton…. a picture of the new premises is below, at Units A & B, Beacon Grove, Carshalton High Street within the Village Conservation Area.

The planning permission given by Sutton Council on 26th June 2013 for this prominent site was reported in a previous posting on this web site (27th June 2013).

Cllr. Alan Salter says: “Local FOCUS team councillors ensured that the cafe’s deliveries/opening hours were limited to help to safeguard the amenity of local residents living above the shops and elsewhere.  The daily opening hours were reduced at our request from 7am-8pm by one hour to 7am-7pm and deliveries would be contained within the same time slot.”

This opening brings back into use two empty shop units that were formerly occupied by Johnson’s Dry Cleaners and Country Harvest greengrocers/fruiterers – a replacement greengrocers/fruiterers business has of course sprung up next door (Rhubarb & Bramley) that in turn replaced the former butchers’ shop.
