Sutton youngsters are getting ready for sporting glory as tryouts begin for this year’s London Youth Games.
There are trials coming up over the next few weeks for:- Boys Basketball, Girls Hockey, Badminton, Boys & Girls Football, Table Tennis, Trampoline, and Netball and more.
Trial and training sessions are free to all young people aged 11-17 years (age varies according to the sports rules) who either live in Sutton or attend a Sutton school. Athletes do not have to be experts but they should be competent in their chosen sport, familiar with the competition rules and have bags of energy and enthusiasm!
Those selected for the Sutton squad will compete in free competitions in June and July and at the finals at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on 5 & 6 July, against young athletes from across all the 33 London Boroughs.
Carshalton Central ward councillor Jill Whitehead, Chair of Sutton Council’s Environment and Neighbourhoods Committee, said:
“The London Youth Games trials are a great opportunity for Sutton’s young people to show their sporting talents. The Games boast a proud tradition of producing many Olympic and Paralympic medallists. I hope that Sutton’s sporting stars of the future will come out in force to take part.”
